You spoke, we listened!

Since Kastel was established, we have been aiming to make shoes that serve the nordic weather conditions in a way we felt other brands were not doing. It was clear that the big international brands cared very little for how wet and cold our feet got in little old Norway. So we have spent a lot of time developing shoes that handle mainly wet and cold conditions. For this, we could look to clothing as a good source of inspiration for materials and technologies that will sufficiently protect from the elements. One area we admittedly underestimated was good grip.

Even after many years of developing new designs and rubber mixtures, it was incredibly hard to find a good balance that would grip well in wet, and cold conditions as well as maintain both comfort and durability. To be honest this task really turned out to be a task we really struggled with, and our soles needed saving.

As a brand that specializes in Nordic weather conditions, we can understand that some of you felt that our soles were not delivering according to our promise. And that made us sad to hear. That is why we for this season decided to partner up with Vibram for our entire FW24 collection. When trying to solve a complex problem, you might as well go ask for help from those who have spent soon 100 years trying to solve the very problems you are currently scratching your head around. So when you see this seasons collection, you can see we have opted for some of the most robust soles Vibram has to offer in terms of good grip, as well as a good blend of lightweight EVA midsoles and the perfect rubber compound to keep you on your feet all year round in any weather.
