Stop carrying dead weight!

The sports industry has driven the innovation of shoe technology for performance reasons, but this has greatly influenced our expectations in terms of comfort and practicality for everyday footwear. Fortunately for us, this means we can take many of these innovations and create shoes that perform as well as any sports shoe, but with a cleaner and more elegant design for everyday use.

One area we’ve put a lot of effort into is ensuring our shoes are as lightweight as possible, so you don’t have to carry unnecessary weight all day long. After all, a marathon lasts about 4 hours, while a workday lasts twice as long.

There are 3 important factors to ensure a lightweight shoe:

  1. Upper materials: we reduce both the quantity and thickness of all upper materials to keep consumption and weight down, read more about our Component Reduction project!
  2. Midsole: this is the biggest weight saver. It’s the part that provides the most cushioning, so here it’s a balancing act to make it soft, stable, and lightweight.
  3. Outsole: This is the most critical part, as it must be highly abrasion-resistant. It is usually made of denser material, so you must try to use just enough to maintain grip and durability.

For reference, Lyngen in size 38 weighs 330 grams. Many of our customers are extremely surprised by how lightweight our shoes are, and we believe some of you won’t believe us until you feel them for yourself, so give them a try!
