Nevertheless, we know that the season for sneakers is short in the weather-prone country we live in, and therefore we wish we could extend the period of use a little more. Norwegian wool is extra resilient and stiff, which makes it perfect for footwear. These sheep are called Grå Trønder and are on the list of endangered Norwegian sheep. They have some of the finest Norwegian wool, and by producing their wool we can help preserve the species. That's pretty cool!

We have several times visited Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, which has spun the thread for our Lofoten Grå Trønder. It is amazing to see how they take wool from fiber to thread in the traditional way, and that they do it on an industrial scale with such care. These are things that are often lost in a world of fast fashion and hyper-consumption.

The wool is woven by Krivi Vev at Tingvoll in Norway. Krivi are experts in exclusive fabrics made with traditional Norwegian craftsmanship, and they are a big supporter of a sustainable future. All their fabrics are made locally in Norway.

The wool from Grå Trønder has a range from light gray to black. The color is a mixture of light and dark wool thread to give an exciting and unique pattern on each shoe. Sorting these different shades and weaving them into different patterns gives us a unique opportunity to create a large variety of shades without chemical dyes. That means the whole process is clean and natural!
