Discovering Tranquility in Lofoten: A Journey with Three Pairs of Kastel Shoes
Lofoten had been on my bucket list for years, but I have to be honest—I always felt a bit intimidated by it. I’m not big on hiking or outdoor activities, so I often wondered what I would do there.
But I'm glad I ignored those doubts and decided to experience Lofoten firsthand. The stunning mountains, clear sea, and amazing weather (yes, we were extremely lucky to have clear skies throughout our stay) made the trip unforgettable.
While hikers and surfers might experience a different side of Lofoten, my trip was all about disconnecting from the hectic everyday life and reconnecting with nature. The air, the sea, and the beautiful views were all I needed to calm my soul.
Each day I started with a meditation session in front of the sea. I also brought two books on philosophy and art, which I highly recommend if you share those interests.
Now, let’s talk about clothes and shoes! Since I wasn’t planning on climbing anything 😜, I didn't need much technical clothing. However, the place was so beautiful that it deserved some stylish outfits (okay, mostly for the photos, but hey 😜). I chose Stavern and Voss in beige and the always-relatable Lofoten in white Norwegian wool (of course I had to wear the Lofoten sneakers in Lofoten). They were easy to style and blended perfectly with the scenery, keeping me comfortable and looking put together all day long.
The Itinerary:
We started our journey by taking a ferry from Bodø to Svolvær. After spending our first night there, we embarked on a silent cruise to the Trollfjorden the next day. We saw sea eagles and enjoyed stunning blue skies.
Afterward, we rented a car and drove to Kabelvåg for lunch before heading to Henningsvær, where we stayed for the next two nights. That first day, we explored the town, visited the Caviarfabrikken art gallery, and enjoyed the most delicious veggie pizza by the sea at Trevarefabrikken.
The following day, we traveled to Unstad. The view was so breathtaking that I had to sit on the beach and just take it all in. The place moved me so much that before heading to Unstad Arctic Surf for lunch (they serve the best cinnamon buns, although I opted for the best carrot soup since I’m not a fan of cinnamon), I had one of the most profound meditations I've had in a long time.
Later, we visited the small fishing village of Nusfjord, Haukeland Beach, and ended the day with a concert by Thomas Dybdahl at Trevarefabrikken.
For me, Lofoten was a healing experience and a chance to disconnect so I could reconnect with myself. Highly recommended! And don’t forget to bring your Kastel shoes along for the adventure.
